Military-themed workshops in Belogradchik
- Military-themed workshop held in Belogradchik / Falkovets from 19-20 January 2019
The Development Agency and the Business Center of Vidin together with the Local Board of Small and Medium Enterprises of Calafat organized the workshop to inform young people about the historical events of Vidin and Calafat between 1877-1878 and the preparation of a historical reconstruction of that period.
The workshop was attended by 30 students from Bulgaria and 30 students from Romania, for 2 days.
The lecturer of the workshop was the President of the Patriotic Club “Bdintsi" – Vidin – Dimcho Georgiev. Expert in historical reconstructions and collector of old weapons – colonel, Associate Professor, Doctor. Georgi Marinov, President of the National Association “Edinenie" – Sofia was the official guest of the workshop.
The “Edinenie" National Association is an association with the cultural and educational field, which aims to preserve historical memory and promote patriotism. The local branch, Bdintsi Patriotic Club, has a remarkable experience in organizing historical reconstructions.
During the workshops, topics such as:
- The historical situation in the cross-border region Vidin-Calafat between 1877-1878; Liberation of Vidin; Romania’s War of Independence;
- Presentation of authentic weapons and uniforms from that period
- Historical reconstruction of some battle sequences – preparation, organization, types, significance
The program also included documentaries related to the historical rehabilitation of the region, photographs and the exhibition of authentic weapons.
The seminar program was interesting and useful for students from schools in the cross-border area who completed their historical knowledge, then with the help of a test the level of learning and understanding of the historical information presented was established. The best students have been selected and will participate in the next stage, military training.
