Agency for Regional Development and Business Center – Vidin organized 3 military trainings in the period November 21, 2019 – December 8, 2019 within the project “Remember the war, to appreciate your liberty" ROBG-449, which took place at the Madonna inn, Falkovets village.
The theoretical and practical part of the training included preparation for participation in reconstructions and a historical module on the events in the cross-border region during the Russo-Turkish Liberation War of 1877-1878.
The trainings were attended by 45 Bulgarian and 45 Romanian, or 90 students in total from Vidin and Dolj.
Practical activities were held in the area around Madonna inn and each participant was dressed in a military uniform and received a rifle as part of military equipment purchased under the project. During the training, technical support was provided, including cannons, blank bullets and pyro-effects that contribute to a realistic representation of the reenactment.
Military processions were organized during the three trainings – from the central square in Belogradchik to the Kaleto Fortress.
Kaleto Fortress in Belogradchik was used as the scene of the battles and conducting the three reenactments in the three trainings. The fortress reconstructions were a symbolic picture of events that took place during the Russo-Turkish Liberation War. The historical moment, considered by the Bulgarian side, is the role of the Russian and Romanian armies for the liberation of Vidin. All participants were instructed about their role as part of the various troops.
Lecturers at the training were Colonel Georgi Marinov, Chairman of the Association “Edinenie”, and Dimcho Georgiev, Chairman of Patriotic club “Bdintsi”, both of whom have extensive experience in organizing restorations.
